Goods receiving team leader

Nature of the position

The Goods Receiving Team Leader oversees all receiving operations within a warehouse or logistics hub. He or she organizes incoming shipments, supervises operational teams, and ensures the compliance, traceability, and quality of received goods. He or she plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy and the overall performance of the supply chain.

Duties and responsibilities

Organization of Receiving Operations
Plan and organize the arrival of goods based on volume and priority. Optimize the use of loading docks and coordinate unloading operations to ensure a smooth flow of incoming goods.

Supervising the Receiving Team
Lead, supervise, and coordinate a team of logistics operators and forklift drivers. Assign tasks, facilitate skill development, and ensure compliance with work procedures.

Incoming Goods Inspection
Oversee the inspection of deliveries (quantities, quality, document compliance) and ensure the accuracy of the information recorded in the systems. Manage discrepancies and initiate dispute resolution procedures.

Inventory Management and Traceability
Ensure that incoming inventory is recorded in IT systems (WMS, ERP). Ensure the traceability of goods and the updating of logistics information.

Optimization of Receiving Processes
Analyze incoming material flows and propose improvements to enhance productivity, reliability, and safety. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S).

Compliance with safety and quality standards
Ensure compliance with safety guidelines (traffic, material handling, PPE) and quality procedures. Ensure a safe and organized work environment.

Coordination with internal and external departments
Work closely with the procurement, transportation, inventory, and production departments. Maintain communication with carriers and logistics providers.

Desired profile

Technical Skills
Proficiency in logistics workflows, WMS/ERP tools, and inventory management; knowledge of safety regulations. CACES certification preferred.

Soft Skills
Leadership, organizational skills, responsiveness, attention to detail, ability to manage priorities.

Languages
Fluent in French; business English is a plus depending on the context.

Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation, or management. Proven experience in logistics, with some experience in team management.

Hierarchical and functional relationships

Reports to: Logistics Manager or Warehouse Manager.
Internal relationships: Receiving, Picking, Inventory, and Procurement teams.
External relationships: carriers, suppliers, logistics service providers.
